Middlesbrough are expected to push through a late loan move for Rangers midfielder Connor Barron on transfer deadline day.

Barron is expected to complete a season-long loan move to Boro from the Scottish giants before the summer transfer window closes, with Boro also working on a deal to sign winger Amario Cozier-Duberry too.

As first reported by the Scottish Sun, Barron has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox and was told he could leave the club.

He is reported to have turned down moves to Europe in the last week, with suggestions he would stay and fight for his place at Rangers. But he now appears set for a move to Boro, if all can be completed before the 11pm deadline.

Providing they can provide the right evidence for an EFL deal sheet, Boro will have the ability to extend the deadline to sign the 24-year-old for an extra two hours.

Barron is described as a tenacious defensive-minded midfielder, which will provide Kim Hellberg’s squad with a bit more balance.
