Power Dynamos hold first training session in Kigali

Zambian Champions, Power Dynamos held its first training in Kigali at the Amahoro Stadium on Wednesday morning.

Abayellow arrived in Kigali on Tuesday ahead of the first leg, which will be played in Rwanda on 5th September.

Oswald Mutapa took his formidable 24 man squad through their paces with Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale, Wilson Chisala, Amine Hiver, Mathews Chabala, Daniel Adoko and Owen Tembo looking lively and sharp during the session.

The Kitwe giants will host the return leg between 11 and 13 September, with the aggregate winner advancing to the second preliminary round.

The winner of that stage will face either Algeria’s JS Saoura or Guinea’s Horoya AC for a chance to secure a place in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Dynamos head into the campaign as back-to-back MTN Super League champions, having secured the 2025/26 title with 78 points from 34 matches.

The triumph was their ninth league title and further underlined their dominance in Zambian domestic football.

The Kitwe-based side will also be hoping to build on a historic continental campaign last season, when they reached the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time.

Power Dynamos remain the only Zambian club to have won a major CAF men’s club competition, having lifted the CAF Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991.
